Hey, do you recall that witty boy from 8th grade who used to make a fool out of himself to make the entire cohort chuckle? Also, that charming girl from section B, 'the miss popular' for whom almost every guy had a crush on? (Although most of the girls envied her for that). Okay, you must remember that topper boy of the class who was also nominated for the class monitor for the same. I can't recall the name, what was it? Did you know that he too had a rumored girlfriend? You don't? The girl, who was the chemistry topper. Nice match though.

Oh my God! It has been so many years and yet we remember the silliest reminiscences. The witty boy, the miss popular, the topper and so many faces have become blurred but clear enough to still relish on them. When we remember their faces, how do we recognize them as? A friend? That's not possible, right? How can the entire cohort be our friends? After all, not everyone is supposed to be a friend, isn't it? Then, who among the entire cluster was actually a friend?

May be, he was a friend who invariably kept the front desk vacant beside them, 

Also, she was a friend who shared her perfumed eraser and the fancy pen.

He was a friend who even after being scolded, secretly brought the Beyblade spinner without any shame. 

She was a friend who didn't refuse to share her notes for being absent due to rain.

She was a friend who always joined you to the washroom with the same excuse of 'periods pain'.

He was a friend who didn't mind to follow you out of the class without any blame.

He was friend who urged you to make your first move,

she was a friend who ensured that your 'staircase dates' are completely aloof.

She was a friend who connected with you on the first encounter,

he was a friend who made bunking classes and getting caught a daily affair.

He was a friend who for the first time burnt your throat with that cheers,

she was a friend who has been a teacher behind your first ring in the air.

She was a friend with whom you shared your illegal butterflies,

he was a friend who comforted your first heart wrenching goodbyes.

He was a friend who always canceled the trips at the last minute,

she was a friend who made you trip the moments that your mind skipped a bit.

He was a friend who mocked your genuine affairs,

she was a friend who stood beside your biggest nightmares.

She was a friend who lived through all your stories,

Also, he is a friend who relishes each one of the memories.

As we evolve, definitions of who is a friend evolves too. The spring time of our life had no boundaries when it came to friendship. The criterion for being a friend was as bare minimum as a smile. Our notion about life as a whole has emerged altogether. Now, parameters of being a friend has gone through a metamorphosis. The narrative of 'who is a friend' has curved itself in a way that has no contest with the innocence that defined it earlier.
