A state of mind when you feel a constant upgradation of knowledge, a philosophy of variable version of thought in a positive direction, a psychology of enhancing the conviction already surviving in the intellect, accomplishment of even the diminutive goals and so much more. All these sentences can be summed up in a single word called 'productivity'. 

 


Normal life is almost a history now. Normal in the  perception when life was outside the comfort shelter of four walls. Normal was when day to day life brought many challenges everyday and our mind wholesomely dedicated to face them. From getting an auto to attending every classes, waking up in the morning to tolerating the boring conferences, everything was a challenge. Even if we missed some, life proposed so much new every following day that the thought of not executing few never crossed the mind. The pandemic that hit the world in late 2019 has made a huge impact on everything that was once normal. From snuggling to social distancing, from replacing the meet with all the safety kits, life demarcated us in the fence of online learning platforms. The former us defined competitions as physical and diverse with more about amusement and less about mental rigidity. The later circumscribed avatar in us redefined the word 'competition' and replaced it with the word 'productivity'. Productivity is no more a state of mind. Now, it is a dwelling competition to gain power over others. It is no more a satisfaction of self improvement, it is a contentment of seizing more than others.

It is very important to be productive so that the dopamine (also called the reward hormone in the brain) makes its way. Dopamine is a part of all the feel good chemicals in our system. We can easily get a hold of it by completing a task, doing self care activities, celebrating little wins and much more. Being productive makes you feel better about yourself due to this chemical in the system honouring your efforts but that doesn't mean you will contradict your mental will to be productive all the time. Something which gives you a consciousness of gratification about your intrinsic self is what defines productivity and not something which violates tranquillity.

Productivity is a very personal thing. It has nothing to do with what and how much others are performing. It is a measurement of fulfilment of your subconscious mind from ground level to infinity. Sometimes the fear of not doing anything at all compels us to do everything that is being offered and when we are unable to do it, all we have is anxiety and exasperation. Being productive is just a thought of peace when you feel a furtherance of your knack, even it is slightly above the sea level. Don't let this dominate your mood and perception. Productivity is a pleasure in itself but being productive to find pleasure is toxic.

We are evolving through these tough pulses like a warrior. The thought of always being prolific is a positive measurement of mind but forcing productivity out of will in these inflexible hours can effect our mental health in a fatalistic way. It is absolutely okay if your friends are doing better than you sometimes. Don't run after. Sit back and fix the abstract subconscious mind that needs your consciousness, it is worth to be the priority.
